The XM Alternatives reviewed in this guide are:
1. Bullwaves
2. Pepperstone
3. IC Markets
4. AvaTrade
5. XTB
6. OANDA
7. CMC Markets
8. Capital.com
XM alternatives should be selected only after the trader can finish this sentence: “I am considering leaving XM because…”
Each alternative offers a different combination of platforms, account structures, pricing and trading tools. The most relevant option depends on which parts of the existing workflow need to remain familiar and which features the trader wants to change.
The profiles below begin with Bullwaves and then examine the other platforms individually. After those profiles, the comparison tables and supporting sections provide the additional detail needed to compare the shortlist consistently.
Readers can use the individual profiles to understand each option first, then continue to the later tables and practical sections for a more detailed comparison of the factors that matter to their own situation.
Bullwaves built its core trading environment around MetaTrader 5 on web, desktop and mobile. Bullwaves combine it with Bullwaves AI Insights, market information and social-trading features.
This is not a like-for-like copy of XM. XM currently supports both MT4 and MT5 and presents its own app and copy-trading route. Bullwaves is the more focused option for a trader who has already chosen MT5.
What the move can improve
The platform decision becomes simpler. An eligible user can test MT5 and evaluate whether the Bullwaves research and social layer fits the way they prepare trades.
The strongest case is not “Bullwaves has MT5.” XM has MT5 too. The case is that Bullwaves organises its offer around an MT5-first journey.
What the move can break
An MT4 Expert Advisor, indicator or template does not automatically become an MT5 resource.
If the client uses XM’s MT4 environment, copy relationships or education and those are central to the routine, staying may be more practical.
Account-cost interview
Bullwaves' public help centre describes Classic, VIP and ECN tiers with different starting spreads and funding requirements. Starting spreads are not typical spreads.
Compare the Bullwaves account actually offered in the portal with the relevant XM account:
1. Same symbol;
2. Same exposure;
3. Same observation time;
4. Spread at entry and exit;
5. Round-turn commission;
6. Overnight financing;
7. Currency conversion;
8. Payment cost.
Use current conditions, not memory: calculate one normal trade using the account visible in your dashboard and read the client agreement before funding. Explore the Bullwaves MT5 trading environment
Entity interview
Bullwaves services are provided through Equitex Capital Limited, regulated by the Seychelles Financial Services Authority under securities dealer licence SD185. Bullwaves are not EU-regulated.
An EEA client served by XM’s Cyprus entity cannot assume the same regulatory framework at Bullwaves. An eligible trader must decide whether the Bullwaves entity and documents meet the requirement.
Exit check
Test Bullwaves when the problem is platform complexity and MT5 is sufficient. Stay with XM when MT4, a current XM feature or the existing entity is a non-negotiable advantage.
Bullwaves brings the main parts of the trading journey into one MT5-centred environment. Traders can use MetaTrader 5 on desktop, web and mobile, build watchlists, analyse charts, place market and pending orders, set protective levels and review account history from the same core platform.
The account experience is supported by AI Insights, market information and Social Trading. Together, these tools can help users organise research, follow market developments and study how other strategies are structured while keeping position size, margin use and risk decisions under their own control.
Before moving from research to live trading, users can compare the available account route, current spreads and commissions, instrument specifications and funding methods shown for their region. A practical first step is to recreate a normal watchlist in a demo account, test the orders used most often and confirm how the platform behaves across the devices that will form part of the everyday workflow.
Pepperstone is the natural first test when XM’s MetaTrader-centred platform menu is the constraint.
The reviewed Pepperstone material lists its proprietary web and mobile route, MT4, MT5, cTrader and TradingView, with regional and account differences. It separates Standard and Razor CFD pricing.
What the move can improve
cTrader or TradingView can become an execution interface where supported. The trader can also retain MetaTrader, reducing the need for an immediate full platform change.
What the move can complicate
More platforms create more combinations. TradingView may be linked only to a particular account structure in the reviewed region. Instruments and commission can also vary by platform.
Before funding, draw a simple map:
If one row is uncertain, the migration is not ready.
Cost interview
Pepperstone Standard uses a spread-led structure on the reviewed account page. Razor uses raw spread plus commission for relevant products.
Compare structure with structure. Do not compare a Razor minimum spread with an XM spread and omit the commission. Run the same instrument, size, session and holding period.
Entity interview
Pepperstone uses several legal companies. Conditions from a UK or Australian page cannot be copied to an EU or other account. Use the agreement attached to the application.
Exit check
Pepperstone is stronger when cTrader, TradingView or a broad interface menu solves the problem. XM can be better when MT4 and MT5 already cover the workflow and the additional choice adds no practical value.
IC Markets is the specialist route in this shortlist.
The current global help centre separates MetaTrader Standard and Raw Spread structures. It publishes USD 7 per standard lot round turn on the reviewed MetaTrader Raw route. Its spreads page displays both minimum and average values for many symbols. Platforms include MT4, MT5, cTrader and TradingView on the reviewed global offer.
What the move can improve
The public data supports a more technical cost model. An automated trader can also test MetaTrader continuity or a cTrader workflow.
What the move can break
An Expert Advisor can produce different results after migration even if it launches successfully. Record:
1. Symbol suffix;
2. Contract size;
3. Server time;
4. Minimum volume and volume step;
5. Stop and pending-order rules;
6. Commission field;
7. Spread during the strategy’s active hours;
8. Slippage and rejection behaviour;
9. VPS and connectivity assumptions.
One demo session is not an execution benchmark.
Cost interview
For a representative position:
all-in cost = spread cost + round-turn commission + financing + conversion + payment charges
Repeat the observation on several days. Minimum spreads can occur briefly. Average figures are more useful, but the current account remains the controlling source.
Entity interview
The global IC site reviewed identifies Raw Trading Ltd under the Seychelles FSA with licence SD018. IC Markets has other group companies. Select the entity before relying on any protection or leverage claim.
Exit check
IC Markets deserves a test when raw-cost measurement, automation or cTrader is the reason for leaving. XM may still be better when its current MetaTrader setup works and the technical migration produces no measurable gain.
AvaTrade is relevant when the trader values XM’s app and copy-trading features but wants to compare another broker-built environment.
Official AvaTrade platform material presents proprietary web and mobile routes alongside MT4 and MT5, subject to region. AvaSocial provides a social and copy-trading path where available.
What the move can improve
The trader can test a different mobile order flow, watchlist, alerts and social layer while retaining MetaTrader access on eligible routes.
What the move cannot preserve automatically
XM copy relationships do not transfer. Strategy-manager history, drawdown, allocation rules and fees must be assessed again. A previous result is not evidence that another provider will behave similarly.
Run a mobile recovery drill:
1. Find an open position.
2. Modify a stop.
3. Close an order.
4. Locate account history.
5. Reach support.
6. Find the withdrawal rules.
If the app feels attractive but the emergency actions are unclear, it has not passed.
Cost interview
AvaTrade does not necessarily map neatly onto an XM account name. Inspect spread, overnight financing and product-specific charges at instrument level.
Entity interview
AvaTrade lists different companies and regulators across regions. The Irish, Australian, Japanese, South African, BVI and Abu Dhabi routes are not one legal offer.
Exit check
AvaTrade is a credible test for proprietary mobile and social functionality. XM may remain better for someone whose current app, copy relationships and education already meet the need.
XTB is the intentionally different alternative.
Its current European help-centre pages describe xStation 5 on web and mobile and state that MT4 and MT5 are not offered on those routes. A separate international help page notes a limited MT4 exception for some MENA clients, which reinforces the need for a regional check.
What the move can improve
The trader commits to one proprietary ecosystem rather than carrying MetaTrader habits into another broker. xStation includes charting, order and portfolio management, market data and analytical tools on the reviewed pages.
What the move will break
MetaTrader Expert Advisors, indicators and templates cannot be moved into xStation as if it were another MT5 server. The workflow must be rebuilt.
This is suitable only when leaving MetaTrader is the objective. It is a poor choice for someone who says MT5 is mandatory.
Platform interview
Use a demo where available and recreate:
1. Primary watchlist;
2. Chart layout;
3. One market and one pending order;
4. Stop and take-profit process;
5. Mobile backup;
6. Statement or history workflow;
7. One research task.
Record the time needed and any missing function. Familiarity should not be mistaken for quality, but retraining cost is real.
Entity interview
XTB operates through regional companies. Use the local legal and help pages. A platform statement from one region can include exceptions that do not exist elsewhere.
Exit check
XTB is the clearest route when the trader wants to replace MetaTrader, not merely replace XM. Bullwaves, Pepperstone, IC Markets or AvaTrade are more natural when MetaTrader continuity matters.
Best for: a long-established route with proprietary and MetaTrader workflows.
OANDA is worth comparing when transparent regional terms and a choice between a proprietary interface and MetaTrader matter. Platform, product and pricing availability differs by legal entity, so the useful comparison is the exact account offered in your country.
Check the current platform, instruments, fees and legal entity for your country before opening an account.
Best for: a feature-rich proprietary trading platform.
CMC Markets is a relevant option for traders who value proprietary charting, research and order controls. Its strongest fit is usually the trader willing to adopt a broker-specific workflow rather than reproduce a MetaTrader setup exactly.
Check the current platform, instruments, fees and legal entity for your country before opening an account.
Capital.com combines a proprietary trading interface with research and educational resources designed to support a guided trading workflow.
This option is particularly relevant for traders looking for a streamlined proprietary platform and learning tools. Platform access, pricing and account availability should be compared for the country in which the account will be opened.
We selected these XM alternatives by comparing the parts of the XM experience that most often drive a genuine switch:
1. Platform and device access.
2. Account structure and total trading costs.
3. Suitability for manual, automated or proprietary-platform workflows.
4. Public information about the legal entity and regional availability.
5. Funding, withdrawal and account-management practicalities.
6. The specific feature each option can replace without creating a larger workflow problem.
Each broker had to solve a distinct use case and provide enough official product or legal information for that fit to be checked. The order reflects the purpose stated in this guide, not a universal ranking for every trader or country.
Before conducting the exit interview, establish which XM relationship is being reviewed.
The current global platform pages describe MT4 and MT5 across desktop, web and mobile routes. They also link to the XM app and XM Copy Trading. The MT5 page states that Expert Advisors are supported and lists desktop, web, Mac and mobile access.
Legal context changes with the site and client. The global pages reviewed identify XM Global Limited as regulated by the Financial Services Commission of Belize. The European regulation page identifies Trading Point of Financial Instruments Ltd under Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission licence 120/10 and states that it serves EEA residents.
Those companies, rules and protections are not interchangeable. Account names, product range, promotions and costs can also vary. The relevant baseline is the client’s own agreement and current portal, not a feature copied from another regional page.
XM may already be a good fit for someone who:
1. Needs both MT4 and MT5;
2. Uses XM education or copy trading;
3. Has verified the available entity;
4. Is satisfied with the payment route;
5. Has measured a suitable total trading cost;
6. Does not face a workflow problem.
An alternative must solve something real.
Check XM MT5 for the current details.
Name a platform, instrument, account structure, payment method or research function. “I want something better” is not specific enough.
List the MetaTrader version, Expert Advisors, indicators, symbols, order types and device workflow that cannot change.
Include identity verification, deposits, conversion, possible withdrawal friction, platform setup and the cost of closing any existing position. Open leveraged trades normally cannot be transferred between brokers.
Set the regulatory and jurisdictional requirement before looking at leverage or bonuses.
Decide in advance. For example: if the new all-in cost is not lower after three observations, stay. This prevents the comparison becoming a search for evidence that supports a decision already made.
A starting spread omits commission, typical spread, financing and conversion.
Higher leverage reduces margin required for the same nominal position. It does not reduce market exposure and can make oversizing easier.
Minimum deposit controls access, not planned loss. Risk comes from exposure, stop distance, leverage and execution.
A review may describe another entity, payment method or trading style. Use it as a question source, not proof.
Promotions can be regional, temporary and conditional. They should not override platform, cost or legal fit.
Review XM MT4 for the current details.
Do not close an XM position solely to accelerate the test. Market movement, spread, commission and possible tax consequences must be considered.
Verify the current account, entity and regional terms before relying on any published figure.
Confirm XM Copy Trading for the current details.
We place Bullwaves first among these XM alternatives when the reason for leaving is to simplify around MT5 and use Bullwaves AI Insights and social-trading tools.
Pepperstone fits a need for cTrader, TradingView or more interfaces. IC Markets fits a technical raw-cost and automation audit. AvaTrade is the mobile and social ecosystem test. XTB is the deliberately non-MetaTrader route.
XM may remain the right choice when its MT4/MT5 combination, copy trading, education, entity and current costs already work. Complete the exit interview before opening a replacement account.
We place Bullwaves first for an MT5-focused journey with Bullwaves-native tools. The best practical replacement changes when the reason is cTrader, TradingView, raw-cost analysis, another mobile ecosystem or leaving MetaTrader.
Yes. The official global pages reviewed on 28 July 2026 describe both platforms and several device routes. Confirm availability for the client’s exact country and entity.
Normally no. A separate account must be opened and verified. Existing positions and copy relationships usually cannot be transferred. Withdrawals remain subject to XM’s applicable rules.
Not for an MT4 or MT5-dependent user. Current XTB European help pages state that those platforms are not offered and present xStation on web and mobile. That makes XTB a deliberate workflow change.
No. The global and European pages reviewed identify different legal companies and regulators. Compare the company in the proposed client agreement.
See XM regulation for the current details.
