The OANDA Alternatives reviewed in this guide are:
OANDA alternatives must be filtered by country before platforms, spreads or account features are compared.
Each alternative offers a different combination of platforms, account structures, pricing and trading tools. The most relevant option depends on which parts of the existing workflow need to remain familiar and which features the trader wants to change.
The profiles below begin with Bullwaves and then examine the other platforms individually. After those profiles, the comparison tables and supporting sections provide the additional detail needed to compare the shortlist consistently.
Readers can use the individual profiles to understand each option first, then continue to the later tables and practical sections for a more detailed comparison of the factors that matter to their own situation.
Bullwaves built its trading environment around MetaTrader 5 on web, desktop and mobile. Bullwaves add AI Insights, market information and social trading around that core.
Bullwaves are a relevant OANDA alternative when the applicant passes its country restrictions and wants to move from a proprietary or mixed-platform setup to a focused MT5 CFD workflow.
Bullwaves are not an option for a Bullwaves resident. Bullwaves' current website restriction list includes the United States. Bullwaves should never route an OANDA Bullwaves reader to its registration as though residence were a minor detail.
Bullwaves operates through Equitex Capital Limited, regulated by the Seychelles Financial Services Authority under licence SD185. This is not OANDA Corporation's Bullwaves CFTC and NFA framework and it is not an EU licence.
An eligible applicant should compare:
Brand familiarity and platform preference do not replace that legal comparison.
Bullwaves provides over-the-counter derivatives. A Bullwaves share or ETF CFD is not a cash security and does not give entitlement to the underlying financial asset.
For an OANDA Europe user, this can be a broadly comparable product category when both tickets are CFDs. For a client using a separate OANDA cash-stock account, it is not.
For an OANDA Bullwaves user, the difference is larger. Bullwaves retail spot forex and offshore CFDs operate under different product and regulatory frameworks. Even if the price chart looks similar, the account is not equivalent.
Bullwaves' current trading-platform page describes MT5 WebTrader, desktop and mobile access. An OANDA Europe MT5 user can retain the platform family, but not the server, positions or broker conditions.
An OANDA Bullwaves MT4 user would also change programming language from MQL4 to MQL5 if automation is migrated. An OANDA API user would need to rebuild the execution layer around MT5 or another supported route.
Use this conversion sheet:
Bullwaves' account-types page publishes Classic, VIP and ECN routes with different starting deposits and minimum spreads. The live account specification controls commission, financing and symbol conditions.
An OANDA Bullwaves client accustomed to entering a unit amount must translate risk into lots:
Higher leverage does not make a position smaller. It reduces margin required to support the same exposure.
Choose Bullwaves for the shortlist when:
Do not choose Bullwaves when:
Pass the gates before funding: Confirm country eligibility, legal entity, symbol specification and live cost in its client dashboard. Compare Bullwaves account types
Bullwaves brings the main parts of the trading journey into one MT5-centred environment. Traders can use MetaTrader 5 on desktop, web and mobile, build watchlists, analyse charts, place market and pending orders, set protective levels and review account history from the same core platform.
The account experience is supported by AI Insights, market information and Social Trading. Together, these tools can help users organise research, follow market developments and study how other strategies are structured while keeping position size, margin use and risk decisions under their own control.
Before moving from research to live trading, users can compare the available account route, current spreads and commissions, instrument specifications and funding methods shown for their region. A practical first step is to recreate a normal watchlist in a demo account, test the orders used most often and confirm how the platform behaves across the devices that will form part of the everyday workflow.
FOREX.com is the most relevant alternative in this list for a US resident who wants another regulated retail forex provider.
The current official FOREX.com US regulation page identifies GAIN Capital Group LLC as a registered Futures Commission Merchant and Retail Foreign Exchange Dealer with the CFTC and as an NFA member. Those categories make it a jurisdictionally relevant comparator to OANDA Corporation in the US.
This does not make the two accounts identical.
A US resident should verify both firms directly in current CFTC and NFA records and read each disclosure. Group companies in the UK, Canada or elsewhere must not be substituted for the US entity.
The comparison should include:
The regulator match is a starting point, not a performance endorsement.
The reviewed FOREX.com US route is centred on retail forex. Availability of other products should be confirmed on the US site rather than borrowed from an overseas FOREX.com page.
An OANDA US user who spot-trades crypto through a separate partner arrangement should not assume that the same product or custody model exists at FOREX.com.
FOREX.com currently presents proprietary trading platforms and an MT5 route for US forex clients. The exact platform account can affect pricing and available features.
An OANDA MT4 EA does not move directly to MT5 without MQL changes. An OANDA v20 API application also needs a new integration even if FOREX.com offers developer access on a relevant route.
Rebuild and test:
Do not discover error-handling differences with a large live order.
The current official FOREX.com help material describes spread-only and RAW Pricing structures, with a separate commission on the latter. OANDA US also presents spread-only and eligible core-pricing choices.
Compare identical weekly activity:
FOREX.com may use different minimum sizes or platform units. Translate both into base-currency exposure before comparing.
FOREX.com belongs on the US shortlist because the country and entity gates can align. It can fit a trader who wants US retail forex, proprietary platform choice or MT5.
It may be weaker when OANDA's one-unit sizing or a mature OANDA API implementation is central to the strategy.
Pepperstone is a relevant alternative when the country gate leads outside the US retail-forex route and the trader values platform choice.
Its current platform support hub lists MT4, MT5, cTrader, TradingView and copy trading. The ways-to-trade page also presents a proprietary Pepperstone platform.
Pepperstone operates through several legal companies. UK, EU, Australian and other terms are not interchangeable. The onboarding flow and agreement identify the actual entity.
The reviewed Pepperstone pages do not make it a US retail-forex option. A US OANDA client should not use a general international article to bypass local rules.
Pepperstone can preserve:
More choice creates more tests. Pepperstone's current TradingView page says the reviewed connection uses a Razor account and carries account-specific commission.
“Pepperstone supports TradingView” therefore does not mean every Pepperstone account uses the integration.
The relevant Pepperstone routes are CFDs or margin forex products under the applicable entity. Compare contract size, margin, stop-out, financing and tax treatment with the exact OANDA product.
Pepperstone's Standard and Razor structures separate spread-based and commission-based pricing. An OANDA spread-only account should be compared with both, because the lower visible spread may be offset by commission.
For each platform, test:
Pepperstone fits an eligible OANDA user who values MT4, MT5, cTrader or TradingView more than OANDA's proprietary interface. It is not a clean substitute for one-unit sizing, the OANDA API or a US-regulated account.
CMC Markets is the strongest proprietary-platform alternative in this list for a trader who values OANDA's charting, research and order tools.
The current CMC web-platform page presents proprietary web and mobile trading, advanced order types, research and charting. Its global platform page also lists MT4, MT5 and TradingView, with regional variation.
CMC's product menu changes sharply by region. The reviewed UK route includes CFDs, spread betting and cash share dealing as separate categories.
Those labels matter:
Do not compare an OANDA Europe CFD with a CMC cash-share account merely because both use the same company ticker.
CMC's proprietary platform is the natural test for an OANDA Web user. Compare the tasks performed every day:
The current UK platform page describes guaranteed stop-loss orders on relevant products. This can be a meaningful risk-control difference, but availability and cost must be checked on the intended market.
The reviewed CMC TradingView page says certain CMC CFD and FX Active accounts can connect, while spread-bet and non-leveraged accounts are excluded from the current connection.
Again, the platform name is not enough. The account type decides.
CMC's FX Active route combines spreads from a published minimum with a separate commission. The proprietary CFD route can use spread pricing and instrument-specific holding costs.
OANDA's cost comparison must use the same product, size and holding period. A guaranteed-stop premium or market-data subscription should be included if the strategy relies on it.
CMC is strongest when the OANDA user wants another feature-rich proprietary environment and the relevant country route offers the required product. It is weaker when the main need is an OANDA-style API or very granular unit sizing.
XTB is the most relevant option here when the OANDA switch includes a second objective: owning cash stocks or ETFs in the same proprietary environment used for CFDs.
The current XTB stock help article distinguishes cash stocks from stock CFDs and says both are offered on the reviewed route. The XTB account and fees page presents its proprietary platform, CFDs and eligible investment products.
Cash stocks, ETFs, CFDs, tax wrappers and protections differ by XTB entity. A UK, EU or international applicant may see different products.
The current international footer identifies a Belize-regulated entity on that route. A European XTB company should not be assumed from the group name.
XTB's STC label for cash stocks is useful, but every first order still needs a ticket check. A CFD and a security can reference the same company while carrying different ownership, financing and risk.
For an OANDA Europe client, XTB may consolidate:
For an OANDA US client, it is not a domestic alternative because the country gate fails.
XTB centres on xStation and its mobile app. Its current help material does not present MT4 or MT5 as the route for new clients.
An OANDA MT4 or MT5 EA cannot be installed directly. An OANDA API strategy also needs a new supported execution path or manual operation.
XTB is therefore a workflow change, not a platform migration.
The reviewed XTB fee material publishes:
“Zero commission” does not remove exchange spread, conversion or tax. Compare the account base currency with the securities most likely to be bought.
XTB fits an eligible OANDA user who is willing to leave MetaTrader or the OANDA API and wants a proprietary platform that separates cash investments from CFDs.
It is a poor fit when automation continuity and one-unit forex sizing are non-negotiable.
Best for: a long-established route with proprietary and MetaTrader workflows.
OANDA is worth comparing when transparent regional terms and a choice between a proprietary interface and MetaTrader matter. Platform, product and pricing availability differs by legal entity, so the useful comparison is the exact account offered in your country.
Check the current platform, instruments, fees and legal entity for your country before opening an account.
Best for: a streamlined proprietary platform and guided learning tools.
Capital.com can suit traders looking for a polished proprietary experience with research and educational support. Product access, third-party integrations and account terms should be checked for the entity serving your country before you compare costs.
Check the current platform, instruments, fees and legal entity for your country before opening an account.
OANDA is one global name attached to materially different local propositions.
The current OANDA US account comparison lists spot forex, OANDA Web and mobile, TradingView, MT4, API access and variable trade sizes as low as one currency unit. The current OANDA Europe trading-account page presents more than 1,700 CFDs, an OANDA TMS platform, TradingView and MT5. It separately points eligible clients towards real stocks and ETFs.
Those are not interchangeable accounts.
A US reader cannot solve a platform preference by opening any overseas CFD account they find in a search result. A European reader should not apply US pricing, product or regulatory statements to an OANDA TMS account. The first task is to identify the permitted legal route.
This guide uses five gates:
An alternative reaches the shortlist only after passing all five.
We selected these OANDA alternatives by comparing platform access, account costs, legal availability, payment practicality and the exact workflow each broker can replace. Each option had to solve a distinct use case and publish enough official information to verify it. The order reflects fit for this guide, not a universal ranking.
Group-level summaries often compress regional facts into one sentence: “OANDA offers forex, CFDs, stocks, crypto, MT4, MT5 and TradingView.” Each item may appear somewhere in the group, but the combined sentence may describe no single account.
The reviewed US platform page lists:
The US account comparison publishes 68 currency pairs, spread-only and eligible core-pricing options, API access and trade sizing down to one unit. Its Elite Trader programme adds volume-based benefits from a stated monthly threshold.
Two details are unusually important.
First, a one-unit minimum is not the same as a 0.01-lot minimum. On a standard 100,000-unit forex contract, 0.01 lot normally represents 1,000 units. The exact broker contract still controls, but the order-of-magnitude difference can matter to a small account or a precise risk model.
Second, an OANDA API strategy does not automatically transfer to MetaTrader. The business logic may be reusable, but authentication, endpoints, symbol format, order model, rate limits and error handling must be rebuilt.
The reviewed EU trading account is a CFD proposition. It presents MT5, TradingView and OANDA TMS access, balance-linked features and a product list that includes forex, indices, commodities, shares, ETFs and crypto as CFDs.
The same page distinguishes real stocks and ETFs from those derivatives. A reader must check the order ticket and account type instead of treating every equity name as ownership.
The current OANDA TMS MT5 guide says EU residents can apply for a live or demo account and identifies the OANDA TMS MT5 server. That does not mean an OANDA US MT4 login can be moved to it.
OANDA's group page describes regulated entities across several markets. Canada, the UK, Australia, Singapore and other locations have their own rules and available products.
The correct source is the local page and the client agreement shown during onboarding, not the broad group biography.
Bullwaves remains first. The country gate can immediately remove it.
We place Bullwaves first among these OANDA alternatives for an eligible non-US trader who wants an MT5-focused CFD workflow with AI Insights and social trading.
The country gate is decisive. Bullwaves is not available to US residents, so FOREX.com is the jurisdictionally relevant option in this shortlist for an OANDA US client. Pepperstone offers the broadest active-platform choice for eligible non-US applicants. CMC Markets is the proprietary-platform and research candidate. XTB is the mixed investing-and-CFD route where eligible.
No broker is a global substitute for every OANDA entity. The right alternative depends on:
Pass the country gate first. Everything else comes after.
