Bullwaves vs IC Markets Costs and Platforms

Comparing Bullwaves and IC Markets starts with the trading workflow rather than assuming that one broker is best for everyone.

Comparing Bullwaves and IC Markets starts with the trading workflow rather than assuming that one broker is best for everyone.

Platform access, account pricing, instruments, funding and the legal entity can all change the answer, so each point should be checked under the same regional conditions.

The comparison below looks at daily platform use, account structure, total trading costs, market access, payments and the legal framework behind each account. The aim is to show where each setup fits, which trade-offs matter and what readers should verify for their own strategy and location.

For traders already using MetaTrader, the decision often comes down to how much platform breadth they need, how costs are presented and whether regional product or payment differences affect day-to-day use. A broker that suits one strategy may be less practical for another, even when both advertise similar headline features.

Platform choice: IC Markets offers more routes

Bullwaves keeps the workflow inside MT5

At Bullwaves, we built the trading experience around MetaTrader 5. It is available on desktop, mobile and through a browser. Traders can use MT5 charts, market and pending orders, Expert Advisors and strategy testing without moving among different platform families.

For someone who has already selected MT5, that focus can be useful. The watchlist, order history and automation environment remain familiar. We add AI Insights for market information, sentiment, alerts and macro context, plus Social Trading for clients who want to evaluate and copy other strategies.

Neither tool changes the risk of the underlying CFD. AI-generated context can be wrong or become outdated, and copied trades can lose money. They are aids to a supervised process.

Bullwaves is not the better platform answer for everyone. We do not currently advertise MT4, cTrader or direct TradingView execution. A trader with an established MT4 Expert Advisor or a cTrader robot cannot treat that as a small difference.

IC Markets is built for platform choice

IC Markets Global advertises four core routes:

  • MetaTrader 4
  • MetaTrader 5
  • CTrader
  • TradingView, connected through its cTrader Raw account

Its official TradingView FAQ says that only the cTrader Raw account is compatible with TradingView. Positions are still executed through the cTrader infrastructure. This is useful detail because "offers TradingView" does not mean every account can connect to it.

IC Markets also publishes specific infrastructure claims for MetaTrader. Its MT4 and MT5 servers are located in the Equinix NY4 data centre in New York, and the broker states latency of less than one millisecond to major VPS providers located in or connected near that facility. That is not a promise of sub-millisecond execution from a retail trader's home. It describes server-to-VPS latency under a particular network setup.

The broker allows small 0.01-lot positions and promotes scalping, hedging, Expert Advisors and no minimum order distance on its Global MetaTrader accounts. Contract and margin settings can still vary by product.

For platform choice, IC Markets wins for flexibility and is better equipped for a trader with platform-specific automation. Bullwaves remains competitive when MT5 is already the final choice and the value comes from our surrounding research and social experience.

The IC Markets account menu has changed

Older broker comparisons usually mention only Standard and Raw Spread. The current IC Markets Global account overview is more complicated.

It shows:

  • Standard, on MetaTrader, with no commission
  • Raw Spread, on MetaTrader, with commission of USD 3.50 per lot per side
  • CTrader Raw, for cTrader and TradingView, with commission of USD 3.00 per USD 100,000
  • Raw Pro, shown as early access, with commission of USD 1.50 per lot per side and a published USD 5,000 threshold
  • Raw Pro+, shown as early access, with commission of USD 1.00 per lot per side and a published USD 100,000 threshold

The specialised Raw Pro tiers should not be treated as the default comparison. They are labelled early access and have materially different balance requirements. For most readers, the relevant benchmark is Bullwaves ECN against the regular IC Markets Raw Spread account.

Bullwaves publicly presents:

  • Classic, with spreads from 1.6 pips
  • VIP, with spreads from 0.8 pips
  • ECN, with spreads from 0.1 pips

The account names do not prove which one is cheaper. Bullwaves clients need to confirm the current ECN commission in the portal. IC Markets clients need to calculate platform-specific commission and live spread.

A note on the IC Markets Standard spread figure

The current IC Markets Global Standard page and account overview display a starting figure of 0.08 pip. The Help Centre describes Standard pricing as a markup of 0.08 pip above the raw interbank rate. The IC Markets EU account page, by contrast, shows Standard spreads from 0.8 pips.

Those are materially different descriptions. They may reflect a regional pricing difference or a decimal-format issue, but the public pages do not make the distinction clear enough to use one global Standard figure without qualification. We therefore recommend checking the live Standard quote and current fee schedule for the exact entity.

Flagging that ambiguity protects both brokers. A comparison that silently selects the lowest number would be misleading.

How a raw-spread cost calculation works

IC Markets Global publishes an average Raw Spread of 0.1 pip on EUR/USD and a MetaTrader commission of USD 3.50 per lot per side for a USD account.

For a one-standard-lot EUR/USD trade:

  1. A 0.1-pip spread is roughly USD 1.
  2. Opening commission at USD 3.50 adds USD 3.50.
  3. Closing commission adds another USD 3.50.
  4. The simplified round-trip total is about USD 8 before swap and slippage.

This uses IC Markets' published average, not a guaranteed live quote. During illiquid periods or major news, the spread can be wider. A position kept overnight can incur financing, and the final fill may differ from the requested price.

To compare Bullwaves ECN fairly, collect the live EUR/USD spread and commission for one standard lot at the same time. If the Bullwaves spread were also 0.1 pip, the difference would come mainly from round-trip commission and execution. If the size is 0.01 lot, confirm how each broker rounds the charge.

Run the comparison with live inputs: Check our current ECN spread and complete account terms in the dashboard. See how Bullwaves AI Insights works.

Why execution claims need context

IC Markets is well known for positioning its Raw Spread account toward scalpers, day traders and Expert Advisors. Its published infrastructure and pricing support that positioning. Still, neither a low server-latency number nor a 0.0-pip minimum guarantees the result of an individual order.

Execution depends on:

  • The trader's connection to the server;
  • Available liquidity at the requested size;
  • Market volatility;
  • The order type;
  • Slippage and partial fills;
  • Platform and server configuration.

A serious automated trader should run the strategy in a demo, then use a controlled live sample if appropriate. Measure the actual fill difference, rejected orders and average total cost rather than relying on the broker's headline.

Product range: IC Markets publishes the bigger number

The current IC Markets Global platform page advertises more than 2,850 tradable instruments. Other IC Markets pages still show lower totals such as 1,980+ or 2,500+, which likely reflects older content, selected product families or an update that has not reached every page. The newest platform and homepage figure is 2,850+, but a trader should verify the exact current list.

Bullwaves provides forex and CFDs across indices, commodities, metals, shares and ETFs through MT5. Our public pages have also shown inconsistent aggregate totals. We use the live symbol list as the reliable source for a specific market.

IC Markets has the stronger public breadth claim. This is especially relevant to clients looking for a large group of share CFDs. It is less decisive for a strategy that trades a small set of major FX pairs.

Use a contract-level comparison for the markets that matter:

Contract detailWhy it can change the result
Contract sizeDetermines the value of each price movement
Minimum lotControls how finely risk can be sized
Trading hoursAffects access around news and market closes
Margin rateDetermines capital required for the position
Swap or financingCan dominate cost on longer holds
Stop and limit rulesAffect automated entries and exits
Corporate-action treatmentMatters for share and index CFDs

The large instrument count is a real IC Markets advantage, but only if the intended symbols are available under the client's entity and platform.

Leverage: the largest number is not a benefit by itself

IC Markets Global's current platform and account pages advertise leverage up to 1:5000 on some MetaTrader accounts. Its cTrader account table publishes a lower maximum. The broker also states that leverage is dynamic and may change, affecting open positions and margin requirements.

Bullwaves leverage also depends on entity, account, instrument and client status. Maximum availability should never determine position size.

At 1:5000, a small margin deposit can control a very large notional position. That does not reduce the cash loss caused by a market move. It only reduces the initial margin required, which can make over-sizing easier.

For example, a USD 100,000 FX position moving 1 percent against the trader produces approximately USD 1,000 of market loss before costs, regardless of whether the margin requirement was USD 20, USD 500 or more. Stop-outs and gap risk can make the outcome worse.

The right question is not "Which broker offers more leverage?" It is "What position size keeps the planned loss within the account's risk limit?"

Regulation: compare the company, not the brand family

Bullwaves is the trading name of Equitex Capital Limited, authorised and regulated by the Seychelles Financial Services Authority under securities dealer licence SD185. ETX Services Limited is an independent representative and distributor and is not presented as a licensed EU investment firm.

The IC Markets Global site is operated under Raw Trading Ltd, registered in Seychelles and regulated by the same Seychelles Financial Services Authority under licence SD018. In that direct international comparison, both accounts sit under an FSA Seychelles securities-dealer framework.

IC Markets also has an EU business. IC Markets (EU) Ltd is authorised by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission under licence 362/18. Its official page publishes retail leverage of up to 1:30 and a different account table. It is not available in every European country, and the site specifically lists restrictions including Belgium, the United Kingdom and the United States.

IC Markets has a broader group structure than Bullwaves, but a client cannot combine the conditions of the Seychelles account with the protections of the Cyprus entity. The company name on the application determines:

  • Applicable leverage limits;
  • Client-money rules;
  • Negative-balance arrangements;
  • Complaint and compensation routes;
  • Eligible products and countries.

Prospective clients should verify the legal entity in the regulator's register and save the client agreement they accept.

Deposits and withdrawals: IC Markets publishes useful detail

IC Markets Global lists cards, Skrill, Neteller, wire transfer, FasaPay, China UnionPay, BPAY and broker-to-broker transfers among its funding options. Regional methods can differ.

Its withdrawal page gives several operational details:

  • Requests submitted before 12:00 AEST or AEDT are scheduled for same-day processing;
  • Later requests are processed the next business day;
  • IC Markets says it does not add deposit or withdrawal fees, but intermediary-bank fees may apply;
  • International wires can take up to 14 days;
  • Card withdrawals commonly take three to five business days after processing and can rarely take up to ten;
  • The first wire withdrawal may require a bank statement;
  • Funds normally return to a source in the account holder's name.

There is also an important exception. IC Markets states that a processing fee may be applied when deposited funds have not been used for trading. A blanket statement that all withdrawals are always free would therefore be inaccurate.

At Bullwaves, cards, bank transfers and regional methods may be available. We review withdrawal requests during working hours and may request supporting documents. The payment provider or bank controls arrival after release.

Neither broker should be judged by the word "instant". Compare internal processing, provider settlement and documentation separately. A client using an international wire may have a very different experience from someone returning funds to a card or local method.

Research and social tools

Bullwaves puts AI Insights and Social Trading close to its core proposition. That makes our experience useful to a trader who wants market context and copying features without assembling multiple third-party tools.

IC Markets' MetaTrader pages advertise Trading Central, Autochartist and MultiTerminal. Its wider ecosystem includes IC Social and platform-native options such as TradingView analysis. This gives the trader more combinations, but also more products to evaluate.

The choice depends on the job:

  • For guided market context inside a focused broker relationship, Bullwaves has the clearer story.
  • For third-party charting, scanners and a broad automation environment, IC Markets is stronger.
  • For copying, compare provider selection, fees, drawdown controls and execution mechanics rather than the label "social".

Who should choose Bullwaves?

Bullwaves is the more natural fit if:

  • MT5 is the platform you genuinely plan to use;
  • AI-supported research and social trading are valuable additions;
  • You prefer a smaller, more coherent platform menu;
  • The Equitex Capital Limited entity is available and acceptable;
  • You will confirm live ECN commission and spreads before funding.

Our limitations are clear. We do not offer the same platform breadth or the same published instrument total as IC Markets Global. Traders who require MT4, cTrader or TradingView should not ignore that.

Who should choose IC Markets?

IC Markets deserves the lead if:

  • The strategy depends on MT4, cTrader or TradingView;
  • Published raw pricing and platform infrastructure are central to the evaluation;
  • The trader runs Expert Advisors, scalping or high-frequency workflows;
  • A larger published CFD range is required;
  • The applicable IC Markets entity and account conditions fit the client's jurisdiction.

Higher-balance traders may also investigate Raw Pro or Raw Pro+, but those tiers are labelled early access and should be evaluated under their final terms. The lower commission is not available to every account.

Bullwaves vs IC Markets Costs and Platforms: which setup fits you?

IC Markets is the stronger specialist choice for platform flexibility, raw-pricing transparency and automation-oriented workflows. It publishes a useful EUR/USD average, a clear regular Raw Spread commission and detailed infrastructure information. It also advertises more than 2,850 instruments.

At Bullwaves, we compete on a different type of coherence. We built around MT5, then added AI Insights and Social Trading to support the process around execution. A trader who already wants MT5 may find that simpler than choosing among four platforms and several account routes.

The practical choice can be narrowed this way:

  • Choose Bullwaves for an MT5-first environment with our integrated research and social layer.
  • Choose IC Markets for broader platforms, a larger published market range or a strategy built around raw pricing and specialist automation.

Before deciding, compare Bullwaves ECN with the regular IC Markets Raw Spread account at the same size and time. Do not use Raw Pro+ pricing unless you actually qualify for its published USD 100,000 tier. Confirm the contracting entity and make a small withdrawal test after verification.

Open the current terms before deciding

The practical details depend on the live offer. Confirm IC Markets platforms page, account overview, Help Centre, and regulation. These pages should match the entity and account displayed during registration.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is IC Markets cheaper than Bullwaves?

IC Markets Global publishes a 0.1-pip average EUR/USD Raw Spread and USD 7 round-trip MetaTrader commission per standard lot. Bullwaves publishes ECN spreads from 0.1 pips, but clients must confirm the current commission. A live, like-for-like total-cost test is required.

Does Bullwaves offer cTrader or TradingView?

No. Bullwaves currently focuses on MT5 across desktop, browser and mobile. IC Markets offers cTrader and direct TradingView connectivity through its cTrader Raw account.

Does IC Markets really have no minimum deposit?

The current Global account table shows USD 0 minimums for Standard, regular Raw Spread and cTrader accounts. Its early-access Raw Pro and Raw Pro+ tiers show USD 5,000 and USD 100,000 respectively. Margin and sensible risk sizing still determine how much capital a strategy needs.

Are both brokers regulated in Seychelles?

Yes for the international entities compared here. Equitex Capital Limited holds Seychelles FSA licence SD185, while Raw Trading Ltd holds licence SD018. IC Markets also operates a separate CySEC-regulated EU entity for eligible clients.

Which broker has more instruments?

IC Markets Global currently advertises 2,850+ instruments. Bullwaves does not publish a consistently comparable total. Verify the exact symbols and contract terms on both platforms.
