The AvaTrade Alternatives reviewed in this guide are:

  1. Bullwaves
  2. Pepperstone
  3. XTB
  4. EToro
  5. Saxo
  6. OANDA
  7. CMC Markets
  8. Capital.com

AvaTrade alternatives should be chosen by the feature you need to carry into the next account, not by whichever broker has the longest homepage.

Each alternative offers a different combination of platforms, account structures, pricing and trading tools. The most relevant option depends on which parts of the existing workflow need to remain familiar and which features the trader wants to change.

The profiles below begin with Bullwaves and then examine the other platforms individually. After those profiles, the comparison tables and supporting sections provide the additional detail needed to compare the shortlist consistently.

Readers can use the individual profiles to understand each option first, then continue to the later tables and practical sections for a more detailed comparison of the factors that matter to their own situation.

The 8 Best AvaTrade Alternatives

1. Bullwaves

Bullwaves built its trading environment around MetaTrader 5 on web, desktop and mobile. Bullwaves connects that platform to its AI Insights, market content and social-trading experience. Bullwaves' public account menu describes Classic, VIP and ECN routes.

Bullwaves place Bullwaves first for an eligible trader whose real finding is simple: “I use MT5 and do not need six overlapping platform choices.”

What travels cleanly

An MT5 user keeps the same platform family. That reduces, but does not eliminate, migration work. Templates and MQL5 code may be technically portable, while server names, symbol suffixes, contract specifications, swaps and historical data will differ. Every automated strategy still needs a fresh demo and low-risk validation.

The research workflow changes. Bullwaves' AI Insights can help organise market information, but it is not a promise of accuracy or profitability. It should support a decision process, not replace one. The same is true of social trading. Following another strategy creates market, execution and behavioural risk.

Bullwaves' account-types page currently publishes Classic, VIP and ECN conditions, including different starting spreads and funding levels. A published minimum spread is not a typical-spread guarantee. Compare the live spread, commission, swap and conversion cost for the instruments and sessions you actually trade.

What stays behind

Bullwaves also do not provide AvaProtect or an AvaOptions equivalent. If an MT4 EA, paid position-protection feature or FX-options workflow is central, Bullwaves is not a like-for-like replacement.

The legal boundary must also be explicit. Bullwaves operates through Equitex Capital Limited, regulated by the Seychelles Financial Services Authority under licence SD185. Bullwaves must not be described as FCA, CySEC, Central Bank of Ireland or EU regulated.

The Bullwaves migration drill

  1. Open the same MT5 instrument on demo or under controlled conditions.
  2. Compare its contract size, minimum volume, trading hours and swap.
  3. Load the indicator or EA and check every symbol reference.
  4. Recreate alerts and risk limits.
  5. Run the strategy through several representative sessions.
  6. Compare a statement with the previous account, including all costs.

Do not choose Bullwaves if

  1. You use AvaProtect as an essential part of position risk.
  2. You need AvaOptions or another FX-options platform.
  3. An MT4 EA cannot be ported to MT5.
  4. You require cTrader or direct TradingView execution.
  5. The Seychelles entity does not meet your legal requirement.

See the real account, not a marketing minimum: Compare its current spreads and conditions in the client dashboard before deciding. Compare Bullwaves account types

Bullwaves brings the main parts of the trading journey into one MT5-centred environment. Traders can use MetaTrader 5 on desktop, web and mobile, build watchlists, analyse charts, place market and pending orders, set protective levels and review account history from the same core platform.

The account experience is supported by AI Insights, market information and Social Trading. Together, these tools can help users organise research, follow market developments and study how other strategies are structured while keeping position size, margin use and risk decisions under their own control.

Before moving from research to live trading, users can compare the available account route, current spreads and commissions, instrument specifications and funding methods shown for their region. A practical first step is to recreate a normal watchlist in a demo account, test the orders used most often and confirm how the platform behaves across the devices that will form part of the everyday workflow.

2. Pepperstone

Pepperstone is the most natural test when the trader wants to keep MetaTrader but reduce dependence on one broker-built interface. Its current trading-accounts page presents Standard and Razor CFD pricing and lists the Pepperstone platform and app, MT4, MT5, cTrader and TradingView. Availability and account connections still depend on region and platform.

This is not a simpler alternative in every respect. It gives the trader more ways to access the market, which can be valuable or operationally messy.

What travels cleanly

An AvaTrade MT4 user can test MT4; an MT5 user can test MT5. That preserves the platform family and the corresponding MQL environment. It does not preserve broker data, symbols, execution or cost.

Pepperstone's two main pricing routes create a useful comparison. The Standard account generally builds most FX trading cost into the spread, apart from overnight funding and other instrument-specific charges. Razor uses raw-spread and commission pricing for forex. The global page currently publishes commissions “from” specific amounts, but those values vary by platform, base currency and entity. They should not be copied into a universal cost claim.

The broader platform menu is the differentiator. A discretionary trader can evaluate TradingView or Pepperstone's own interface. A developer can compare MQL with cTrader's automation environment. That does not mean code can move between them without a rewrite.

What stays behind

AvaProtect does not travel. Neither does AvaOptions. A stop-loss, guaranteed stop where available, option contract or different hedge is not automatically equivalent to AvaTrade's paid position-protection feature.

AvaTradeGO layouts, watchlists and account history also stay behind. Even when both brokers offer MT5, the proprietary client area and money movement process changes.

The Pepperstone platform-exit test

Instead of opening four platform accounts at once, test one route at a time:

  1. Start with the same MetaTrader version used at AvaTrade.
  2. Measure total cost for 20 representative trades.
  3. Only then test the platform you think will improve the workflow.
  4. Recreate one watchlist, one order routine and one statement export.
  5. Confirm where aggregate exposure appears if several accounts are opened.

Do not choose Pepperstone if

  1. Platform choice makes it harder to see total exposure.
  2. AvaProtect or FX options are non-negotiable.
  3. The required TradingView, cTrader or account route is unavailable under your entity.
  4. The tested Standard or Razor cost does not suit the strategy.

Pepperstone belongs here because it offers an exit from a single proprietary experience while preserving MetaTrader access. That is different from simply calling it “lower spread” or “better.”

3. XTB

XTB is a more radical alternative. It is relevant when the trader wants to combine active CFD trading with cash stocks or ETFs where those products are legally available. It is not a MetaTrader continuity choice.

XTB's current international account and fees page presents stocks, ETFs and CFDs through its own platform environment. The page currently lists no minimum deposit, a currency-conversion charge and instrument-specific withdrawal conditions for that entity. XTB's country pages differ substantially, so no global price or product statement should be transplanted into a local article without checking the reader's route.

What travels cleanly

The trading idea may travel. The platform does not. Watchlists, chart templates, EAs and AvaTrade-specific features must be rebuilt or abandoned.

The benefit is a different account purpose. On eligible entities, XTB can let a client separate unleveraged stock or ETF investing from leveraged CFD positions inside the same proprietary ecosystem. XTB's current help material says it offers both cash stocks and stock CFDs in relevant locations and applies separate conditions to each.

That distinction matters. Buying a cash share and trading a share CFD are not the same exposure. Ownership rights, financing, leverage, tax treatment and risk can differ. The platform label does not erase the product distinction.

What stays behind

MetaTrader automation is the largest loss. XTB's current proposition is built around xStation rather than MT4 or MT5. An EA cannot simply be uploaded and run.

AvaProtect, AvaOptions and AvaSocial also do not carry over as matching tools. XTB has its own risk controls, research and investment features, but a similarly placed button does not create the same legal or economic product.

There is a further cost trap for multi-currency investors. XTB publishes conversion charges on relevant international pages. A trader attracted by low or zero headline transaction commission should model conversion, spread, financing and inactivity conditions for the actual country account.

The XTB two-ledger test

Create two columns before opening an account:

Cash stocks and ETFs actually available

  • Trading ledger: CFDs actually available

Transaction and conversion cost

  • Trading ledger: Spread, swap and conversion cost

Ownership and custody terms

  • Trading ledger: Margin, stop-out and overnight terms

Long-term reporting need

  • Trading ledger: Short-term risk limit

If the two columns keep getting mixed together, the promised convenience may create a worse risk view.

Do not choose XTB if

  1. An MT4 or MT5 EA is central to the strategy.
  2. The available country entity does not offer the required cash instruments.
  3. Currency-conversion costs undermine the investing plan.
  4. You need AvaProtect, FX options or a close equivalent.

XTB is the alternative for changing the purpose of the account, not for preserving AvaTrade with a new logo.

4. EToro

eToro is the specialist branch for somebody who uses AvaTrade mainly because social discovery and copy trading reduce the distance between finding a trader and allocating money. eToro's official CopyTrader page describes automatic replication, performance information and the ability to stop copying. Its fees page says CopyTrader has no additional copy fee, while the normal spreads, overnight charges and underlying product costs still apply.

That last sentence is essential. “No extra copy fee” does not mean copied positions are free.

What travels cleanly

The behaviour travels: discover a trader, review a profile, allocate funds and mirror future activity. The people, risk scores, minimum allocation rules, products and execution do not.

Copy results can diverge from the displayed history because of entry timing, available cash, minimum trade sizes, price movement, account restrictions and later deposits or withdrawals. eToro's own European copy-trading terms explain that copied trades can open at the current available price rather than the original trader's historic entry and that suitability or regulatory controls may limit the service.

This is one of the clearest examples of why a feature name is not enough. “Copy trading” describes a category, not a guaranteed process or outcome.

What stays behind

MT4 and MT5 continuity stays behind. eToro's native environment is the product. AvaTrade EAs, indicators and templates do not move into it.

AvaProtect and AvaOptions also stay behind. eToro's risk controls and available instruments are different, and eligibility can change sharply by country. Its current fees page, for example, notes restrictions affecting new Spanish users and CFDs. The applicable local page and entity must be checked before any comparison is made.

The copy-account audit

Before allocating live funds, answer:

  1. Which product types can the selected person trade?
  2. Can the copier receive positions that conflict with their own risk plan?
  3. What happens when the copied trader adds or withdraws money?
  4. What is the maximum acceptable drawdown for the copied allocation?
  5. How will the position be exited if the copied trader changes style?
  6. Which fees apply to the underlying positions?

Past performance should not be treated as a promise, and a social profile is not a substitute for due diligence.

Do not choose eToro if

  1. You need MT4, MT5 or Expert Advisors.
  2. Your country or entity restricts the products you intend to use.
  3. You want to approve every order before it is placed.
  4. AvaProtect or FX-options functionality is essential.
  5. The social layer encourages you to override your own risk limits.

eToro can be a stronger social destination than a broker where copy functionality is one item in a broad platform menu. It is also a much larger change than moving an MT5 account.

5. Saxo

Saxo is the broadest migration in this shortlist. Its current UK SaxoTrader page lists options, CFDs, forex, futures, commodities, stocks, ETFs, mutual funds and bonds in its full platform range. The platform is available on web, mobile and desktop, while SaxoInvestor is positioned as a simpler investing interface for eligible products.

This is relevant for a trader who has outgrown the idea of one CFD platform plus a specialist add-on and now wants a more extensive portfolio and trading workspace.

What travels cleanly

The need for cross-device access, charting, alerts and risk monitoring travels. Some of the desired products may also travel, but their form can change. An FX option, listed option and CFD are different contracts with different liquidity, pricing and risk.

Saxo's own platform material distinguishes SaxoInvestor from the more advanced SaxoTrader environment. That separation can make sense for somebody who wants a clearer boundary between investing and leveraged trading.

Saxo also publishes integrations and API-related tools on parts of its regional offering. That can suit an advanced workflow, but access, market data subscriptions and product availability need to be checked for the exact account.

What stays behind

MetaTrader continuity stays behind. A Bullwaves or Pepperstone migration can preserve MT5; Saxo requires a new proprietary workflow.

AvaProtect does not have a direct one-button equivalent that should be assumed. Saxo offers standard and advanced risk tools, and broader options access can create hedging possibilities, but using options properly requires product knowledge and can introduce new risks and costs.

The breadth itself can be a disadvantage. More products, order types and market-data choices increase the number of decisions. A trader who only needs spot FX CFDs on MT5 may be adding complexity without a useful return.

The Saxo product-permission test

Do not start with “How many markets are there?” Start with a permission list:

  1. Products the strategy is allowed to use.
  2. Maximum leverage and loss limits.
  3. Approved order types.
  4. Data subscriptions required.
  5. Currency-conversion rules.
  6. Markets that require separate tax or reporting work.

Then use a demo, where available, to test the exact workflow. Saxo's platform overview currently describes a time-limited demo with simulated funds, but regional terms can differ.

Do not choose Saxo if

  1. MT4 or MT5 continuity is required.
  2. A narrow CFD workflow is all you need.
  3. Product breadth would encourage untested trades.
  4. The local pricing or market-data costs do not fit the account size.
  5. You want a direct AvaProtect replacement.

Saxo is an alternative because it changes the ceiling of the account, not because it copies AvaTrade's platform collection.

6. OANDA

Best for: a long-established route with proprietary and MetaTrader workflows.

OANDA is worth comparing when transparent regional terms and a choice between a proprietary interface and MetaTrader matter. Platform, product and pricing availability differs by legal entity, so the useful comparison is the exact account offered in your country.

Check the current platform, instruments, fees and legal entity for your country before opening an account.

7. CMC Markets

Best for: a feature-rich proprietary trading platform.

CMC Markets is a relevant option for traders who value proprietary charting, research and order controls. Its strongest fit is usually the trader willing to adopt a broker-specific workflow rather than reproduce a MetaTrader setup exactly.

Check the current platform, instruments, fees and legal entity for your country before opening an account.

The usual alternatives article starts with a table of logos and ends with a best option. That is too blunt for AvaTrade. The broker's official platform menu currently includes its own web and mobile environment, MT4, MT5, AvaOptions and AvaSocial. AvaProtect adds a broker-specific risk tool on eligible instruments through the proprietary experience. A person who uses AvaOptions is not replacing the same thing as somebody who logs into MT5 once a week.

This guide treats a broker switch like packing for a move. First decide what must travel, what can be rebuilt and what you are willing to leave behind. Then compare the alternative that solves that particular job.

8. Capital.com

Capital.com combines a proprietary trading interface with research and educational resources designed to support a guided trading workflow.

This option is particularly relevant for traders looking for a streamlined proprietary platform and learning tools. Platform access, pricing and account availability should be compared for the country in which the account will be opened.

How We Selected These Alternatives

We selected these AvaTrade alternatives by comparing platform access, account costs, legal availability, payment practicality and the exact workflow each broker can replace. Each option had to solve a distinct use case and publish enough official information to verify it. The order reflects fit for this guide, not a universal ranking.

The shortlist by migration job

Narrow the experience around MT5

  • First alternative to test: Bullwaves
  • Feature you gain: MT5 plus Bullwaves AI Insights and social trading
  • Feature you must not assume survives: MT4, AvaProtect and AvaOptions

Keep MetaTrader but widen third-party platform choice

  • First alternative to test: Pepperstone
  • Feature you gain: cTrader and TradingView routes alongside MetaTrader
  • Feature you must not assume survives: AvaProtect and AvaOptions

Combine active trading with eligible stock and ETF investing

  • First alternative to test: XTB
  • Feature you gain: xStation, cash stocks and ETFs where available
  • Feature you must not assume survives: MetaTrader and AvaTrade's specialist tools

Put social and copy functionality first

  • First alternative to test: eToro
  • Feature you gain: A native social-investing and CopyTrader environment
  • Feature you must not assume survives: MT4, MT5 and identical copy outcomes

Expand product and portfolio depth

  • First alternative to test: Saxo
  • Feature you gain: Proprietary platforms across a broad product set
  • Feature you must not assume survives: MetaTrader continuity and AvaProtect

The alternatives are intentionally different. A useful shortlist should reveal the trade-off, not pretend every provider offers the same product with a different colour palette.

Choosing the right AvaTrade replacement

We place Bullwaves first among these AvaTrade alternatives for an eligible trader who wants to concentrate the experience around MT5, our AI-assisted research and social-trading tools. That focus is also our clearest limitation. We do not provide MT4, cTrader, direct TradingView execution, AvaProtect or an FX-options platform.

Pepperstone is the first test for preserving MetaTrader while opening routes to cTrader, TradingView and a proprietary platform. XTB makes sense when the objective changes toward a combined trading and eligible investing workspace. eToro is the social-first migration. Saxo is the product-depth migration.

None is a universal replacement for AvaTrade. The right answer depends on which feature is in your carry column and whether the proposed entity can legally and operationally provide it.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the best alternative to AvaTrade?

For an eligible trader who wants an MT5-centred setup with Bullwaves AI Insights and social trading, we place Bullwaves first. Pepperstone is more suitable when cTrader or TradingView matters, XTB when eligible stock and ETF investing matters, eToro when copy trading is central, and Saxo when broader multi-asset access is the goal.

Which alternative is closest to AvaTrade for MetaTrader?

Bullwaves preserves an MT5-first route, while Pepperstone supports both MT4 and MT5 on relevant accounts. Neither reproduces AvaProtect, AvaOptions or the complete AvaTrade platform bundle. Test the exact platform, entity and account rather than choosing from the brand name.

Is AvaProtect the same as a stop-loss?

No. AvaTrade describes AvaProtect as paid protection on eligible positions for a selected time through its proprietary platforms. A stop-loss is an order to close at or around a trigger and may be affected by gaps or execution. Read the current terms for both mechanisms.

Can I move an Expert Advisor from AvaTrade to another broker?

An MT4 EA can be tested on another MT4 environment and an MT5 EA on another MT5 environment, but results can change because of symbols, data, execution, spreads, swaps and contract settings. MT4 code does not run natively on MT5, cTrader, xStation, eToro or Saxo.

Does another broker offer the same FX options as AvaOptions?

Do not assume so. Some brokers offer listed options, OTC options or no options at all. AvaOptions is a specialist FX-options environment. Compare the exact contract, expiry, settlement, liquidity, margin and legal availability before treating another product as a replacement.

Should I close AvaTrade before testing an alternative?

Usually there is no reason to rush. Open and verify the alternative, test it under controlled conditions, export records and understand both withdrawal processes first. Closing leveraged positions creates market and cost consequences, so it should follow a deliberate plan rather than an SEO ranking.
