Anthropic is reportedly moving toward its first profitable quarter, with projected revenue of $10.9 billion for the second quarter.
The figure would represent a major increase compared with the company’s first-quarter performance, more than doubling its previous quarterly revenue and placing the AI company on a path toward positive operating income.
The company behind Claude is said to have shared these projections with investors during an ongoing funding round. The round could push Anthropic’s valuation to around $900 billion, potentially placing it above OpenAI’s most recent reported valuation.
Anthropic expects to generate around $559 million in operating profit for the quarter ending in June. In the first quarter, the company reportedly generated $4.8 billion in revenue, meaning its sales may have accelerated sharply in just a few months.
The numbers suggest that demand for Anthropic’s AI products continues to grow at a rapid pace. They also challenge the idea that AI companies may struggle to reach profitability in the short term because of the high cost of infrastructure, computing power, and model development.
At the same time, OpenAI has reportedly faced some pressure this year after missing internal targets for revenue and weekly users in early 2026.
Despite those challenges, OpenAI is still moving forward with its public listing plans. The company is reportedly working with major banks on a confidential S-1 filing, while Anthropic is also said to be considering a public listing as early as October.
If Anthropic maintains this pace, the company could become one of the most financially significant players in the AI sector, strengthening its position in a market currently dominated by a small number of major artificial intelligence companies.
